eDJ has heard unconfirmed rumors that EMC has laid off a large portion of the Kazeon group in their March 2014 layoffs. eDJ has not seen Kazeon as an active option in client search and collection RFP's in the last 2 years. EMC had similar strategic layoffs in 2013, so this Note is focused on the potential impact for EMC customers with discovery workflow dependent on Kazeon for search and collections.

eDJ was surprised to learn from EMC that the Kazeon product cannot index or migrate content from EMC's legacy EmailXtender archives. eDJ is seeing a strong market trend of enterprise migrations from unstructured file shares and enterprise archives to next generation repositories, especially Microsoft's Office 365. EMC states that Kazeon 4.8 introduces an API to allow third parties to develop index and migration capabilities.
