Lync conversations conducted through the Outlook client can be automatically saved into a conversations folder, but this does not work with OWA or mobile IM conversations. The system cannot archive IM transferred files, audio conversations or other Lync functions.

eDJ is increasingly hearing reports from clients and eDiscovery software providers that Microsoft sales and channel partners are positioning the new preservation and collection functionality as a displacement for traditional eDiscovery corporate appliances and software. The message seems to be that upgrading to the 2013 SharePoint eDiscovery Center covers legal holds and collections for corporate Exchange and SharePoint for free, so why pay for a separate eDiscovery platform?
