Applied Discovery once had big brand name recognition on par with Kroll Ontrack, but has had trouble gaining major traction again in recent years. The fact that Lexis Nexis could not make the Applied Discovery business work is cause for concern. Currently owned by a private equity firm, Applied Discovery should have some resources to make another run at leveraging its brand name. They recently brought on some veteran eDiscovery sales resources to define and refine Applied Discovery’s place in the market. The company will need to act quickly and present a clear strategic message to the market.
